La Ceramica Moderna & Antica
La Ceramica Moderna & Antica is a historic Italian quarterly magazine dedicated to ceramics, covering its artistic, cultural, craft, and design dimensions. The project was developed during the Editorial Design course with Professor Mauro Vincenzo Bubbico, as a redesign proposal for the magazine. My concept focuses on the letter “C”, shared by Ceramica and Cultura, the publication’s two main areas. Its form is inspired by a ceramic tray, conceived as an open container for diverse content. This idea led to a custom-lettered logo that translates characteristic ceramic forms into a distinctive visual identity.
La Ceramica Moderna & Antica is a historic Italian quarterly magazine dedicated to the art, culture, craftsmanship, and design of ceramics. As the official publication of the AiCC (Italian Association of Ceramic Cities), it represents an important reference point for the field. The project was developed during the Editorial Design course with Professor Mauro Vincenzo Bubbico, as part of an exercise focused on redesigning the magazine and developing a proposal to present to its publisher. The concept originates from the letter “C”, shared by “Ceramica” and “Cultura”, two of the publication’s main areas of interest. Its form is inspired by a “ceramic tray”: a solid yet open object conceived as a container capable of holding different types of content, much like the magazine itself. This concept led to the development of a custom-lettered logo, built through an exploration of lines, curves, and forms associated with ceramics. The result is a coherent and distinctive visual identity that connects the publication’s editorial character with the material and cultural qualities of ceramics.
